In April 2025 I was at Ostend-Bruges International Airport (OST) for work and decided to make it a full day at the Belgian coast to visit some places and see some ships if possible. I finished work at the airport in the early afternoon and went towards the lighthouse of Oostende where parking is easy and free (at least for now!), I knew the area well and had been there many times before. This time I wanted to photograph the Belgica anchor on display since recently being unveiled right next to the VLIZ marine station and former drydock. The Belgica was the ship that took the Belgian exploration team of Adrien De Gerlache to the South Pole in 1897 to 1899, more about the ship and expedition can be found online and in various museums in Belgium.
My next place to go was Zeebrugge where I waited right near the port entrance to see the CFC/Ambassador cruise ship Renaissance leave port in the late afternoon.
