16-9-2011 : To Paris (France)

I ‘m on a group trip with the photoclub, we left this morning at 07.30 in Hasselt by train to Brussels and there we took a Thalys to Paris, after we checked in at the hotel we toured the city for hours from Centre Pompidou to Trocadéro, the Eiffel Tower and then evening shots at the Sacré Coeur before going to dinner and back to the hotel.

The second day of our trip started with a simple breakfast at the hotel before leaving for La Madeleine, Montparnasse, Concorde, Louvre, and Notre Dame. After that I went to the Eiffel tower and walked along the Seine river to find the nose of the SS France/Norway before going to Trocadéro to visit the exposition of the SS France, by then it was time to fresh up at the hotel. In the evening we went out again to take evening shots at the Louvre but it started to rain soon after we arrived so we went back to the hotel to drop off our gear and go out to dinner before going back for a good night rest.

Our last day started at Montparnasse tower, then lunch and after that I visited Parc des Buttes Chaumont and the church of Saint Sulpice (made famous by the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown). Around 17.30 I arrived back at the hotel to pick up my bags and wait for the others to go back home where we arrived around 23.00.

Short photographic trip to Brussels.
24-3-2012 :

Today I went to Dover for a one day trip just to get away for a day, I left around 05.00 and did not get back home before 22.30 so it was a long but rewarding day. I walked the White Cliffs from Dover to South Foreland lighthouse and back before going to Dover centre and then the Marine Parade. After a drink in a bar at the new shopping centre behind Marine Parade I went back to the ship.
31-3-2012 :

Today I had a social meeting in Rotterdam but because it’s about 200 km from where I live I decided to combine this social meeting with some photography so I left around noon to arrive around 14.00 at the Maasvlakte on the southwest side of the port entrance where I waited for one of the Stena ferries to sail past when she leaves for the UK. After a few shots there I went to the SS Rotterdam for my social meeting.

13-4-2012 : Going to Southampton

This is a trip I 'm doing with a friend to remember the Titanic disaster, this weekend it will be a 100 years ago. We left early to beat traffic so we had some time left at the last stop in Belgium before the French border, our ferry left Calais at 10.45 and it was the new P&O ferry Spirit of France. Onboard we noticed how busy the ship was, P&O ferries must be doing well, we settled in for a calm channel crossing. When we arrived in Dover we went straight to Beachy Head te get something to eat (I got fish and chips again !!) and then a walk on the cliffs around the 2 lighthouses, after that it was time to go to Southampton and check in to our hotel, when we arrived there my car had 550 km on the daycounter so I left it on the parking. We did a short evening walk and then went to sleep.
14-4-2012 : Southampton (in memory of Titanic 100 years ago)

We started today with a good English breakfast, then we went to see a few Titanic memorials and the New Seacity museum, when we left there it was raining so we decided to go to Cobwebs (the Oceanliner memorabilia shop), by the time we left there it was time for a small lunch. After lunch we went to the Titanic convention in the De Vere hotel and then a short walk back to our hotel to fresh up before dinner. We had Japanese for dinner and I ended with a smooth Whiskey (Glenmorangie) before going back to the hotel.
15-4-2012 : Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight

Our 3rd day started by driving to Portsmouth to pick up a local friend, we went up the Spinaker Tower, then took a short walk around before taking the Wightlink ferry to the Isle of Wight where we found the old PS Ryde in such a poor state that I believe it is now impossible to restore her. From there we went to the St. Catherine’s Point lighthouse and then to Yarmouth where we took the second ferry back to the mainland, we did stop at Calshot but saw we were a bit to late for the P&O Oceana, Ventura and Azura so we went back to Southampton for dinner in a nice Indian restaurant. After dinner we returned our friend to Portsmouth and went back to the hotel.
16-4-2012 : going back home again

The last day of our trip we first had breakfast and then checked out, we took the car and went to Mayflower park to see the Boudicca and then to Holybrook Cemetary to see the grave of Titanic lookout Frederick Fleet wich we found by good luck because there were no signs, after that went back to Dover to relax for a few hours before taking the ferry back to Calais, upon arrival there were 2 things wrong, first of all the Costa NeoRomantica should have been there but for some reason she was cancelled and second we booked the Spirit of Britain back to Calais but for some reason we got the Pride of Calais instead, we arrived in Calais around 21.00 and by 23.30 we were back home again.
